Pet Friendly Apartments

Finding Pet Friendly Apartments

If you are moving into a new apartment, the whole scenario changes if you have a pet. You have to look for pet-friendly apartments. Pet-friendly apartments are those that allow you to keep your pet with you in the newly rented home. There are many norms and rules concerning pets when it comes to rented apartments.

Vicious Breeds

If your pet falls under the category of vicious breed then you might find it slightly difficult to find accommodation. Usually pit bulls, rottweilers, wolf hybrids, German Shepard and Doberman are the ones that are considered vicious. However, there are certain apartments which also consider boxers as vicious. Mastiffs are also considered to be in the same category by some. Some property owners will conduct a pet interview.

Number of Pets

Most apartments also have a restriction policy as far as the number of pets is concerned. You cannot accommodate more than two pets in one home. You might find a home that will be willing to accommodate more than two dogs but it is upon the owner's discretion. In addition, you might have to pay a full deposit for each additional pet that you are keeping in the home.

Deposits

Pet deposits are usually nothing but the rent for your pet to live in the house. They do not cover any damages that your pet may cause to the house. The normal deposit amount is around $300 each pet. However, it may differ from one apartment to another. You might also find a place that does not charge as much. The deposit can be broken up into small installments. However, there are certain apartments that require you to pay the deposit up front. Make sure you read all the clauses before you sign up for your Pet friendly apartment.
